Shipping in the northern waters has been badly disrupted of late. A small squad of Bleys's guard was sent to deal with the presumed pirates. One man made it back, badly burned, repeating the same word over and over again: "Dragon".

Suddenly it became the Elite Guard's problem.

And Zoe came up with the excellant suggestion of dragonskin boots. Robyn does hope there will be enough of the leather to supply her with a pair, too.

Quite fine, to tread upon the thing that terrified so. Nasty things, dragons.

Aaah, though a pair of dragonskin fencing gloves have a style, I shall gladly let the ladies make their selection, after the two that so bravely assaulted the dragon in mid-air, of course.

Yes, yes, very interesting, but never mind the teasers and snippets of information... where are the damned mission reports!

Sorry, Spider: somehow it seemed as if you were there.

Umm, we took the cards to Italy and traveled to France, with Jayne's sister in tow as a prisoner. Much thought and effort went into keeping her away from planes and Ewan and Ewan away from her.

In Calias we bought one ship, stole a second (hauling fortified wine for Philippe's biggest competitor), with a magnificent performancy by Yves. Since I'm selling the wine from the nice natives in the southern Americas through Philippe and I just shelled out for a ship, Zoe was kind enough to blow up the man's warehouse as a distraction while we sailed off on those two ships). Marion, who happened to be in port, pursued us, while Yves, Cyrano and I got the ship to sea with Lorianne's capable captaining.

At sea we took on a crew from the other ships and materials we had bought to build ship and people catapults.

We sailed up the coast to northern Scotland while various people experimented with making fire retarding fluids for the sails, etcetera.

We stumbled upon a fortress, burnt to the ground, then ransacked by people, the survivors led away.

We sailed further up the coast and found another fortress, much the same. I went ashore and waited beside a big bonfire, then two children showed up that had been playing out and about. We took the children and gave them to Jayne to care for.

On the return from their reconnaissance flight, Ewan and Jayne saw a dragon emerge from the coastal water and fly up. Jayne opened fire at it and Ewan flew Philippe's special plane into the dragon, set to detonate on impact. They jumped (parachuted) into the sea, though Ewan did so by way of the dragon's back and the dragon flew off. Ewan believed the dragon to be real, not a mechanical invention.
We went further up the coast and at the third fortress found a surviving family. They told of dragon boats, like the Vikings', in colours of gold and red, with a flag of a red ball on a gold background. When I talked to them, the youth, William, wanted to revenge himself and joined Jayne's Sharks. The family were happy to take the children: we left them with additional food from our supplies.

Further up the coast, Jayne's ship dropped a sail and ran into an iceberg and sank. We saved the survivors and Lorianne tested the crew, and suspected Ben. Apparently our friend from the desert thought himself quite the sailor and helped out vigourously and enthusiastically.

We kept sailing further up the coast until we were attacked by the dragon and four dragon boats. Lorianna took one out with a full broadside. Cyrano was dropped by plane on the dragon, Ben was shot by crew launcher and landed on its wing. Cyrano took out a dragon's eye with his sword and I took the other eye with my trusty bow. The dragon dove for the icy depths and came up, wrapping itself around Lorianne's boat, which was in a boarding action with another dragon boat.

The dragon crushed the boat as Lorianne and I shot for its brain through the eye cavities. In the meantime fought off and killed the crew on the three boats, bar one of their chieftains I captured. William did his family proud. The dragon died, its dying convulsions destroying the boat. I grabbed my captive and Isabella and dove overboard, into the thrice cursed ocean. Once again a ship sank under my feat and once again my beautiful Isabella saved my life.

The people turned out to be some sort of Far Eastern Vikings that travelled West and prayed for a dragon and one showed up. They had raided more or less in concert as they could communicate with the dragon.

We tracked them to their base and freed their captives. Ten of them, women all, did not want to return to their demolished existence and chose to join Jayne's Sharks instead.
