It began routinely enough, when a small island in the west was overrun with pirates. But the circle of their influence quickly spread. In a matter of weeks they shut down most of the shipping in the North Atlantic, with ruthless raids and wanton atrocities.
But most troublesome -- the seas they sailed were strangely becalmed for all vessels but theirs.

Damn! Islands being overrun by pirates is routine?
Where is this island in the West and when did this happen?
Also, are there any survivors, anyone fled from their raids? What wanton atrocities? Are we talking sacrifices, slavery, slaughter, destruction of towns, livelihood, what?
Not wanting to know much about this sailing thing, but are the seas calm when they sail them, or have the seas fallen calm (as in no wind, or no bad weather?) all the time, yet they can still sail them?
Considering this is reported, people must have seen them sail: What ships? What crew? Flags? Symbols? Colors?[ Reply to This ]
